74th Asam Sahitya Sabha session begins at Burhidihing-Bordumsa

 BADOUSA SAMANNAY KHETRA, Jan 31 – The four-day-long 74th session of the Asam Sahitya Sabha began this morning at the Badousa Samannay Khetra of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border areas of Burhidihing and Bordumsa.Today’s programme was started with the inauguration of the Chaolung Siu-Ka-Pha Samannay Toran by the Sabha acting general secretary Samiran Bordoloi. The temporary office of the Sabha and the reception committee was inaugurated by the former president of the Tinsukia District Sahitya Sabha Prabin Bora.

The Bhimbar Deori Memorial Mandap and Chaokamon Gohain Memorial Stage were inaugurated by Sabadan Tayeng, ADC, Bordumsa and Madhab Deori, CEM, Deori Autonomous Council, respectively at Singphow Heritage Centre, Bordumsa. The Benudhar Neog and Lalit Rajkhowa Memorial Delegate Camp at Singphow Heritage Centre was inaugurated by Dibrugarh MP Rameswar Teli.

Today’s programme also included the inauguration of the book fair, exhibition, trade fair, science exhibition , art and craft exhibition and traditional food exhibition.

Around 3,000 delegates are expected to participate in the session, besides a huge crowd of audience. Some programmes of the session will be held at Singphow Heritage Centre, Bordumsa in Arunachal Pradesh, while the main programmes of the session will be held at Sarbananda Singha Memorial Mandap at Ritu Pathar in Burhidihing mouza in Tinsukia district.

The local people of Burhidihing and Bordumsa have been extending full cooperation to the reception committee in making the session a grand success. However, the deplorable condition of the roads leading to the venue may dampen the Sabha session.
