GUWAHATI, June 18 – Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today unveiled an android mobile app for disseminating information on Satriya culture, Mising culture, carbon registry, information on hotels, transport, lodges, car mechanic, car rentals and all information regarding district administration, etc., of Majuli.
Sonowal also participated in a function christened Making of Developed India (Modi) fest organised at Garmur in Majuli. The programme, popularly known as Modi Fest, was organised to showcase the achievements of the NDA Government at the Centre in the last three years led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sonowal said the Centre has launched several schemes for the benefit of the people belonging to all sections and to generate awareness about the schemes, Modi Fests are being organised to enable the beneficiaries to reap dividends.
Launching the Ujjwala scheme at Majuli today, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to the empowerment of women and Ujjwala scheme is a way towards women empowerment. He said 16,000 Majuli families below the poverty line will be brought under the purview of the scheme.
The Chief Minister also launched the beginning of repair and strengthening work of 18.40-km Auniati-Bongaon and 16.20-km Jengrai-Halodhibari connecting routes in the river island. At another function, the Chief Minister felicitated meritorious students of Majuli who passed HSLC and HS examinations this year.
