Job fair inaugurated in Jorhat

 JORHAT, March 7 – AASU has urged the state government to ask the private companies operating in the state and other business establishments to employ eligible and skilled youths in their business.This was said by the AASU General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi while inaugurating the two-day Niyog Mela (Job Fair) organised by the Jorhat regional unit of AASU at the stadium premises here today.

Gogoi said the government which is pushing for investments and industrialisation in Assam,  at the same time, it should ensure that companies operating in the state should employ eligible local youths.

The AASU leader said that it has been observed that several companies from outside Assam and even foreign firms doing business in the state, recruit people from outside the state citing Assamese youths lack skill and were not qualified.

Gogoi while cautioning such tendencies, there were large number of skilled and qualified youths who were eligible for various jobs and the government should take note of it and direct the companies and other business establishments to absorb them.

He said that the students’ body will see that eligible candidates of the state are not deprived.

Twenty-four companies including the automobile giant Mahindra & Mahindra are participating in the fair in which about 5000  job aspirants are expected to take part.
