SILCHAR, March 18: Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers, Barak Valley zone, disappointed at the indifferent and unresponsive attitude of the Central Government to their 20 point charter of demands. Neam Uddin Laskar, secretary, NFPE, Cachar division, said, “It is really most unfortunate that despite our repeated representations and demonstrations, there has been no positive response to our legitimate demands from Delhi. If this remains the stand of the Centre, the central body might be forced to review its own course of action.”
As decided earlier, the members of the Confederation, Barak Valley zone, along with the rest of the country observed one day token strike, paralyzing the postal services. Neam Uddin Laskar quoted their charter of demands which among others included new pension system, regularization of casual employees, filling up of vacant posts, removal of 5% ceiling on compassionate appointments, granting of five promotions in the service career to all central government employees. Besides, the demands include implementation of option 1 recommended by the 7th Pay Commission, to treat Gramin Dak Sevaks as civil servants, revision of payment of arrears of casual workers from January 1, 2006 and stop trade union victimization among others.
