TURA, Jan 11 – The deputy commander- in-Chief of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) was killed in an encounter with security forces early morning today. Acting on a tip-off, a police team of East Garo Hills raided a village called Bawe Duragre. On seeing the policemen, the militant fired at the police team and they also retaliated killing the self-styled deputy commander-in-chief (Matchallang M Sangma) on the spot. The police team also recovered an AK 56 rifle, Chinese hand grenades and Bangladesh currency notes from his possession.
