GUWAHATI, March 7 – Vodafone, one of Indias leading telecom service providers, has added over 2,750 new cell sites in the last year to boost its SuperNet data-strong network across more than 5,400 towns and villages in Assam and the North-east Circle, according to a top Vodafone official.Addressing the media here today, Nidhi Lauria, Vodafone India Business Head Assam & North-east, said, To reach out to an even larger population, Vodafone has also laid down over 600 km of fibre network in last one year, taking the total spread to 8000 plus km across the circle.
She further said, We have seen a rapid rise in data consumption, both in urban areas as well as in rural pockets… Our network expansion drive has accordingly kept pace fulfilling this growing demand of our millions of customers across the region. Using the latest technologies, we have created additional capacity and built a smart, robust and resilient data-strong network.
On the various Vodafone products and offers, Lauria said, We are offering the best-in-class products in both pre-paid and post-paid categories that are packed with unprecedented benefits and are readily available at very affordable price points. We are also incentivising our customers to enjoy the Vodafone SuperNetTM data-strong network by partnering with handset manufacturers and offering cashback over the widest spectrum of 4G smartphones.
Vodafone has also doubled the 4G bandwidth capacity of more than 840 cell sites across Assam and North-east by adding 5 MHz more spectrum in the existing band, thus helping its customers enjoy data at a faster speed in the region, she added.
Vodafone also utilised the occasion to mark the International Womens Day celebration by felicitating four of its women employees for their contribution towards various social causes.
